Removing Snare of Poverty with Integrated Poverty Programs
Deputy of Population and Employment of the Ministry of PPN / Bappenas Pungky Sumadi became a guest speaker in the live broadcast of the Hot Economy event on Berita Satu TV on “Pushing Out the Poverty” theme, on Wednesday (10/1).
Deputy Pungky said the poverty rate had improved with an average decline in the last four years of around five hundred thousand people or if it was about 10.12 percent. This is supported by the anti-poverty programs, such as the hope family program or the national health insurance program that has been integrated by the government.
Although the poverty rate is improving, he also explains the imbalance in poverty in rural and urban areas. This is due to the lack of diverse employment available in rural areas when compared to urban areas. “If in the city, the available jobs are relatively diverse. While in rural areas, the choice is very limited. For example, I became an untrained workforce, like a driver, as soon as I entered a formal employed company with a good income. While in rural areas, the choice is very limited if not trained, “explained Deputy Pungky.
The government has made several ways in which villagers remain productive at work and on the other hand to reduce the number of people migrating to the city. One of them is the improvement of infrastructure in the countryside, thus providing ease and smoothness in the production delivery process. In addition, improving the quality of the workforce by providing training or apprenticeship programs in the village, so that uneducated workers can easily find work. “Taking into account the infrastructure and quality of the workforce, that means their productivity will go up and better. In addition, the flow of goods and services from various regions will also become faster, “said Deputy Pungky.
The government is currently targeting the poverty reduction to reach single digits by 2018. Deputy Pungky then explained several strategies that have been prepared by the government, especially the Ministry of PPN / Bappenas, namely First expands the formal work with the creation of infrastructure improvements as well. Second, the productivity of non-formal workers must have social security, such as health insurance, labor security, social assistance (such as rice) reproduced in non-cash form, and the hope family program is raised. Third, using an integrated approach, also conducts a supervisory control system within the social assistance program.
